Position: Linebacker

Grade: 2014

Height: 6'2

Weight: 205lbs

Hometown/HS: Albany, Georgia (Albany HS)

Strengths: Young is a strong and physical linebacker who excelled at the NUC camp in Atlanta earlier this month and ended up leaving the camp as the Combine King award winner as well as the Strongest Man award winner for the recruiting class of 2014. Young has excellent size and the frame to add more weight and muscle. He has a chiseled and physical frame that already has the look of a college linebacker. Young is a highly intelligent defensive prospect who stays focused at the task at hand and never seems to get rattled when he steps foot onto the football field. He has outstanding instincts and never gets out of position. Young reacts quickly and gets to ball in a hurry. He has the athleticism and range to play sideline to sideline as well as give support in defending the pass. Young has excellent ball skills and is defiantly a prospect that has great potential.

Weaknesses: Young has a lot of things about him that excite you as a coach and a scout. He has good potential but still has room to improve and a lot to learn about playing the linebacker position. Young needs to become more fluid and smooth with his hips and his ability to turn and react when chasing the ball. He can sometimes be too stiff when changing directions and going after the ball. Young needs to learn more about defending the pass and reading routes. Having more time on the playing fields learning how to play the pass should allow him to become an overall better player on defense. Young could do a better job of getting off blocks and getting after the ball carrier quicker. Maturity of the body and continual repetitions on the field should help Young in all of his improvements areas.

Overview: Young was a pleasant surprise at the NUC Atlanta camp earlier this month and he will have a chance to impress again as he has been invited to the NUC 5 Star Showcase back in Atlanta on April 14th. Young is a physical specimen has defiantly has the look of a Division 1 football recruit. He has yet to receive much interest with his recruitment but is certainly to gain attention as he hits the camp circuit this summer and continues to generate a good name for himself. Young has excellent potential both on and off the field and is defiantly a name to watch out for throughout the next couple of years.
